Shillong(Meghalaya), Mar 30: In a historic achievement for Indian football, Meghalaya FC, comprising the U-17 team from Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School, Ri Bhoi District, has clinched an impressive 3rd place finish in the 2nd Edition of the Indo-French Football Tournament held in Paris, France, from March 25-29.
The team’s remarkable journey to the podium began with their outstanding performance as runners-up in the Subroto Cup 2024, earning them a spot in this prestigious international tournament. Under the expert guidance of Head Coach Bobby L. Nongbet (AFC A License), the team underwent intensive training to prepare for the Paris campaign.
Meghalaya FC’s impressive run in the tournament included dominant victories, notably a 23-0 win against Daman & Diu and a 7-0 semifinal triumph. Although they narrowly missed the top spot, the team’s determination and skill were on full display in a thrilling penalty shootout (4-3) against Manipur in the final.
