Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 12 ; Four more Covid deaths were reported in the state taking the official death toll to 98.
According to official sources, while 2 patients were from Tura 1 each were from Umsning and Shillong .
The patients have been identified as Jogendar Sharma aged 82 years from Tura, who was admitted to Tura Civil Hospital on Nov 7 and tested positive for the virus the same day. He died on Wednesday morning. The cause of death was due Covid-19 with upper gastrointestinal bleeding, shock, Type 2 diabetes and hypertension.
Balajied Kharshiing aged 41 years from Umsning, was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital on Nov 3 after testing positive the previous day. He died on Wednesday afternoon. The cause of death was uraemic encephalopathy (brain disorder brought about by kidney failure) with Covid pneumonia, chronic infection, severe metabolic acidosis (electrolyte disorder), Type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease and hypertension.
Hemarson Marak aged 54 years from Tura, was admitted to Tura Civil Hospital on Nov 8, tested positive the same day and passed away on Wednesday night. The cause of death was acute respiratory distress syndrome with sepsis and hypertension.
Nowin Karthak Lepcha aged 58 years from Shillong, tested positive on Nov 9 and was declared brought dead to Shillong Civil Hospital this morning. He had a history of Type 2 diabetes and hypertension.
Meanwhile , 144 new Covid cases were detected in the state today which included 38 cases from East Khasi Hills, 54 from Ri Bhoi , 22 from West Khasi Hills , 10 from East Garo Hills, 8 from West Garo Hills, 6 from West Jaintia Hills, 3 from East Jaintia Hills , 2 from South Garo Hills and 1 from South West Garo Hills .
A total of 56 patients were declared recovered today .
