Shillong (Meghalaya) ,Aug. 01 : 33 new Covid caees were detected in thev state on Saturday taking the total number of cases in the state to 856 .
With this the total number of active cases in the state stand at 631 after 220 patients recovered fully . The state also recorded 5 deaths so far .
Among the new cases today are 4 hospital staff of Shillong Civil Hospital .
27 cases are from East Khasi Hills which includes 4 staff from Shillong Civil Hospital, 3 BSF personnel and 8 personnel from other armed forces and 7 returnees to the state from outside .
1 police personnel and 2 personnel from armed forces in Ri -Bhoi district , 1 BSF personnel in West Garo Hills , 1 returnee to the state tested positive in West Khasi Hills and 1 each was reported from East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills.
On Saturday 7 patients were discharged after recovery which included six BSF personnel and 1 general .
So far 527 active cases have been reported in East Khasi Hills district alone.
The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District today declared the following houses, compounds, buildings and places as containment areas to restrict unregulated entry and exit and movement by public.:Julie Kharmawphlang, Block D, Nongrimmaw, Shillong, Anil Toi, Lower New Colony, Laitumkhrah, Shillong,Abdul Bari and Sanisha Kharlukhi at Mawbah Barapathar, Shillong,Block II of Mawiong Rim from the building of Talas Massar to flower nursery,Block IV of Mawiong Rim from the building of M. R. Nongrum to H. Marwein,Block IV of Mawiong Rim from the house of G. Lyngdoh to the house of S. Nongrum,Laitkor Dongdaneng and Laitkor Rngi.
The order has been issued due high risk and low risk contacts with COVID-19 positive cases and affected areas require aggressive contact tracing, quarantine, testing and isolation as well as containment in the interest of the health of the general public against any possible spread of COVID-19.
According to the order, no person and public are allowed to move into these containment areas and inhabitants within the containment areas also not allowed to move out, besides, all inhabitants within the containment areas are to strictly remain inside their homes.
