Shillong (Meghalaya) ,Dec 03: 2 more Covid patients succumbed to their infections in the state taking the death count in the to 116.
While one is from West Garo Hills the other patient is from East Khasi Hills .
The patients have been identified as Mingran D Sangma aged 50 years from Salmanpara in South West Garo Hills. He was admitted to Civil Hospital on Nov 13 and tested positive on Nov 23. He passed away on Wednesday evening due to upper gastrointestinal bleeding with liver mass, oesophageal varices and Covid-19.
The other patient has been identified as Belnarine Laloo aged 58 years hailing from Jowai in West Jaintia Hills. Laloo was admitted to Supercare Hospital in Shillong on Wednesday and passed away the same evening . The cause of death was Covid pneumonia.
On Thursday 52 more cases were detected in state taking the number of active cases to 648 .
Among the 52 new positive cases, 32 are from East Khasi Hills (High risk- 20,SARI- 01,Armed forces/ Para-military force- 04,Returnee- 01,Health worker- 01,Laitumkhrah cluster- 03 and Madanrting cluster- 02) , 12 from West Garo Hills district(High risk- 09,Armed forces/ Para-military force- 01 and Returnee- 02), 4 high risk from Ri Bhoi district, 03 from West Jaintia Hills district(High risk- 02 and Health worker- 01) and 01 returnee from West Khasi Hills district.
Meanwhile, based on reports that 3 ( positive COVID-19 cases are detected in Rani Building at Block-D, Madanrting, which houses 52 (fifty two) families in different units having close proximity to each other and a common entry and exit and in order to facilitate active surveillance and testing and to prevent against any possible spread of COVID-19, the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, in an order issued issued today has declared the above mentioned building as a Containment Area so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit on the site.
According to the order, no person shall be allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within this area shall not move out. All the inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their home.
A total of of 87 patients were declared recovered today, taking total number of recovered patients to 11,241.
