Shillong(Meghalaya), March 1 : Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui today informed that the state Government has forwarded the name of the mediator for the proposed peace talks with the militant organization HNLC to the Union Home Ministry .
Speaking to media persons after the cabinet meeting, Rymbui said the state Government has forwarded the name of the mediator and is awaiting Home ministry’s approval. He also informed that the Chief Minister will be going to Delhi soon to take up this issue so that the talks can start at the earliest .
He also said that as of now he won’t disclose the name until confirmation from the centre . He also added that once the name is approved, the HNLC can directly contact the person who is appointed by the home ministry.
When asked about the alleged links between the militants and illegal coal miners and its transportation, Rymbui said that he has no knowledge about it.
On the issue of the pending salaries of SSA teachers, Rymbui said that the SSA teachers will get their dues after the state Budget for the year 2022-2023 is passed .
