Shillong(Meghalaya), Nov 5: In a bid to maintain public order and prevent potential disturbances, the District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills, Smti. Rosetta Mary Kurbah , has issued an order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The order prohibits any person or group from holding demonstrations or rallies in Mawryngkneng that may cause traffic congestion, disturbance to public peace, or tranquillity.
The order specifically bans the carrying of arms, lethal weapons, or any items that could be used as weapons and cause grievous injury or harm. Violations of the order will attract penal provisions, and appropriate legal action will be taken against those found in contravention.
Given the urgency of the matter, the order has been passed ex-parte and will remain in effect until further notice.
