Shillong (Meghalaya), July 23 : Seeing the sudden surge of Covid cases across the state government has decided to go public random testing in 71 clusters identified by the state Health Department covering the entire state .
This was decided at a high level meeting held in the state today .
Informing this , CM Conrad Sangma tweeted , “#Meghalaya Government has decided to initiate public random testing in 71 Clusters identified by the Health Department covering the entire state.
Our 7000 #Covid_19 Management Committees will assist the Department in this exercise at the local level.”
On Thursday morning ,19 more new Covid cases were detected in the state taking the total number of cases in the state to 534 .
The active cases stand at 452 after 78 patients were discharged after recovery .
Among the new Covid cases detected today 13 are BSF personnel from East Khasi Hills district and 3 each from South West Garo Hills district and West Garo Hills District of the state .
According to official sources ,out of 452 active cases, East Khasi Hills has 379 active cases, Ri Bhoi district has 42 , West Garo Hills 15 , East Jaiñtia Hills 03, South Garo Hills 04, South West Garo Hills 04, while, East Garo Hills and North Garo Hills have 1 active case each.
The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills had declared Block-II of Lumpyngngad, Motinagar as ‘containment area’ on Wednesday.
The area was declared as containment area so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit movement on site.
