Shillong ( Meghalaya), Feb 11 : Taking its commitments to make Meghalaya a Five-Star state further, the Congress party on Saturday released its Manifesto here .
AICC General Secretary In charge for Media,publicity and Communication Department Jairam Ramesh along with AICC In charge of Meghalaya Manish Chatrath and Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee chief Vincent Pala unveiled the manifesto.
Addressing the media, Jairam Ramesh asserted that the Congress party envisions the agenda of promoting growth and prosperity which is completely different from the policies of the incumbent regime who prefers to promote sectarian divisions in the society and patronized corruption and mafia in their five-year rule.
“The Congress party will provide free education to every girl child in Meghalaya from Kindergarten to XII standard. We are already giving free education to girls in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh where it is running the governments,” said Jairam Ramesh asserting that Congress party’s plan to transfer Rs 3000 every month in accounts of BPL Single Mothers will go a long way in empowering every girl and woman to fulfil their dreams, ambitions and aspirations.
“We have already made a commitment to provide a job to every household to make Meghalaya a Five Star state. To fulfil this commitment, the Congress party’s government will establish of a dedicated State University with special focus on job-oriented and market-ready courses related to Information technology, Block Chain Technology, Food Processing and Agricultural growth. Apart from establishing these institutions, Congress government will also clear the backlog of vacancies in government departments,” he added insisting the Congress government will provide a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Ginger, Turmeric, Broomstick, Black Pepper and other agricultural products to support farmers and strengthen agriculture sector.
Taking pot-shots at MDA government for poor law and order, MPCC chief Vincent Pala shared a roadmap to make Meghalaya a drug free and corruption free state.
“Law and Order in Meghalaya was the first victim of the poor governance given by MDA alliance. The Congress party’s government will set-up a Special Urban Police Force which will be modern, people-friendly and equipped to handle city-based crime scenarios using the latest technology and equipment,” said Pala asserting there is huge inflow of synthetic and natural drugs through porous borders.“The Congress party will improve the policing system and stands committed to make Meghalaya a Drug-Free state,” he said.
AICC In charge for Meghalaya, Manish Chatrath asserted that Congress party is committed to support the people living under poverty lines through various schemes.
“The Congress government will provide quality roofing materials to every BPL household in Meghalaya. It is the primary job of a government to provide its people with a decent house. We will fulfil our responsibility to empower the poorest of the poor on the priority,” said Chatrath mentioning the Congress party will also provide 200 units of free power to every BPL household and free LPG Cylinder once in three months.
MPCC chief Pala also divulged that the Congress party shall set up a 500 Crore Corpus Fund which will help in building infrastructure like roads, water connectivity, power etc. for large religious gatherings in various parts of the state.
The Congress party proposes to augment the power supply in our state by an additional 500 MW through the adoption of clean and green technologies.
MPCC Chief Vincent Pala also said that the Congress party will restore the dignity of all teachers in Meghalaya.“No more delay will be there in salaries of teachers. Our teachers don’t have to resort to dharna or protests for their legitimate demands. We respect teachers and their esteem profession and all the justified demands will be fulfilled because we respect the dignity and acknowledge their selfless service,” he said announcing that the Congress party respects the journalists and have always treated them as the fourth pillar of our democracy. “On our return to power, the Congress government will provide substantial pensionary and other benefits for all accredited journalists, who have attained pensionable-age,” he said.
Pala asserted that Congress party has always been committed to peace, prosperity and development of Meghalaya. Congress party governments in the past ended the era of ethnic violence and bloodshed and brought normalcy in the state and empowered the local tribal people through various legislations and safe-guarded their interests.
