Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 10: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Operation Team (SOT) of East Khasi Hills apprehended Pynshailang Puwein, the prime accused in the Lumdiengjri cheating case, along with four others, yesterday.
According to police sources, the accused were traveling in two vehicles, a Celerio and a Swift, when they were intercepted by the SOT team. A search of their vehicles yielded a country-made .22 pistol with four rounds of ammunition, two vehicles, six mobile phones, and incriminating documents.
The five accused have been identified as Aidonsing Nongsiej (40), resident of New Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills,Orally Khardewsaw (33), resident of Nongkhlaw, Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills, Wanrilang Nongkynrih (33), resident of Mawlai Mawtawar, Shillong,Mossingstar Nongbri (28), resident of Massar, Eastern West Khasi Hill and Pynshailang Puwein (30), resident of Riangmaw, Shallang, West Khasi Hills.
A case has been registered at Mawsynram Police Station (Case No: 06(02)2025) under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. The investigation is ongoing to uncover the extent of their criminal activities.
With this arrest, the police hope to unravel the mystery behind the Lumdiengjri cheating case and bring the perpetrators to justice.
