Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 22: Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya has successfully foiled a major smuggling attempt, seizing contraband worth ₹31.13 lakh. The operation, which took place on Saturday, Dec 21, was carried out in collaboration with the Meghalaya Police.
The seized items include a large quantity of cattle, apples, and other contraband, which were intended to be smuggled into Bangladesh. The BSF troops acted on specific intelligence and launched a joint search operation near the international border.
In one operation, a large number of unattended cattle were found tied to trees and scattered across the area. The joint operation team promptly encircled the area and seized the cattle from the jungle.
In another operation, the BSF recovered numerous fruit boxes concealed and dumped in a forest area, intended for smuggling into Bangladesh through the Meghalaya border. The seized cattle and contraband items are being handed over to Meghalaya Police and Customs for further legal action.
This successful operation highlights the BSF’s commitment to safeguarding the border and preventing illegal activities, ensuring the security and integrity of the nation.
