Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 13: A Home Guard Volunteer, Reganson Kharlor, has been arrested and relieved of his duties following a brazen attempt to extort ₹15,000 from tourists over a purported traffic infraction.
The incident, captured on video and disseminated on social media, reveals Kharlor’s alleged high-handedness, as he menacingly demanded ₹100,000 from the vehicle’s occupants, ultimately settling for a lesser sum.
The swift action taken by the East Khasi Hills District Police underscores their unwavering commitment to upholding the law and protecting citizens from abuse of authority. The officer’s actions are under scrutiny, and further investigation is underway.
