Shillong ( Meghalaya), Sep 25 :A police team from East Jaintia Hills led by Sub-inspector D. Shabong and Sub-inspector B. Marbaniang along with the assistance of Assam Police managed to track and rescue the two minor girls from two separate locations from Kalain in neighbouring Assam.
The prime accused , Saydul Islam and and Raju Majuib managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness and police are on the look-out for them.
The two minor girls have been safely brought back to Khliehriat. East Jaintia Hills and will be handed over to the CWC after completion of all formalities.
In a press statement , SP, East Jaintia Hills ,lagpal Singh Dhanoa said that on Sept 19 and 22 information was received at Khliehriat Women Police Station that 2 minor girls aged 13 and 14 years old hailing from Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills District have been taken from their home since since Sep 17.
The statement added that during the course of investigation it was clear that the two minor girls were taken somewhere to Kalain in Assam. Immediately police swung into action and engaged sources to trace the location of the two minor girls and subsequently rescued them on Friday .
