Shillong, Sep 26: Langsning had to grind but got there — a 2-0 win over bottom-placed Mylliem today at SSA Stadium that sent the defending champions back to the top of the Shillong Premier League.
Wallambok Dkhar’s 77th-minute header and Samuel L Kynshi’s stoppage-time strike did the job, both helped by Mylliem blunders.
The first came from a corner that shouldn’t have been — defender Rajat Lyngdoh hooked clear despite keeper Rihoklang Khongjoh calling for it and conceded it. Samuel swung it in, Wallambok rose highest. The second was a howler — Samuel’s low drive from outside the box went straight through Rihoklang’s hands in the 92nd minute.
Mylliem, still on one point from seven games and facing relegation, had their chances. Remark Kharmalki’s free kick clipped the roof, Istarbor Marngar fired over from close range.
Langsning move to 16 points from seven games, one ahead of Shillong Lajong. It was their fourth win in five and third clean sheet in a row — a timely boost before facing Lajong on Oct 1 and Nongkseh on Oct 10.
