Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 20: In a thrilling finale to the Shillong Premier League 2025, Langsning were crowned champions after Mawlai were held to a 1-1 draw by Rangdajied United in the last match of the season. Langsning, who had played their final match on Oct 14, topped the table with 20 points, narrowly edging out Lajong (19 points) and Mawlai (19 points).
This marks Langsning’s third SPL title, following their back-to-back wins in 2017 and 2018. The team showed remarkable resilience, overcoming a slow start to the season to finish strongly with four consecutive wins. Coach Khlain Pyrkhat Syiemlieh’s strategic moves, including key signings like Donlad Diengdoh and Apborlang Kurbah, paid off as Langsning emerged victorious.
In today’s match, Mawlai took the lead through Ricky Chyne’s 50th-minute goal, but Rangdajied equalized in the 58th minute through Pasborlang Khonglikong. Despite dominating possession, Mawlai couldn’t find the winning goal, with Rangdajied goalkeeper Meshan Banjop Sumer making crucial saves.
The top six teams have qualified for the Shillong Super Cup, with Langsning and Lajong directly entering the semifinals. The playoffs will feature Mawlai, Nangkiew Irat, Rangdajied, and Sawmer, with details of the tournament to be announced soon.
