Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 15: The Indian Institute of Management Shillong hosted the Shillong Literary Festival – Campus Prelude at its Mawdiangdiang campus, bringing together students, faculty, and dignitaries to celebrate literature, dialogue, and youth perspectives. Curated by Meghalayan Age Ltd. and hosted by IIM Shillong’s North-East Centre for Community Impact and Engagement in partnership with the Student Association Nurturing Minds, the event served as a curtain-raiser to the forthcoming Shillong Literary Festival 2025.
The Campus Prelude featured a book discussion on “M. S. Swaminathan: The Man Who Fed India” with author Priyambada Jayakumar, exploring Dr. Swaminathan’s vision for sustainable agriculture, gender inclusion, and human-centered scientific progress. Student-led panel discussions were also held on topics such as the role of education in shaping identity and values, and addressing youth challenges like unemployment, stress, and substance abuse.
IAS officer Saloni Varma and faculty members from IIM Shillong judged the panel discussions, praising the students for their thoughtful engagement and articulate presentation of ideas. The event fostered vibrant inter-collegiate dialogue and creative exchange, reaffirming IIM Shillong’s commitment to connecting education, culture, and community impact. The Campus Prelude set an inspiring tone for the upcoming Shillong Literary Festival 2025.
