Shillong ( Meghalaya), Feb 13 :The Congress party on Monday released a chargesheet highlighting the corruption scandals and non-performance of the incumbent Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government. AICC Media and Publicity Chairman Pawan Khera along with AICC Media coordinators MathewAntony & Bobbeeta Sharma released a detailed document highlighting the corruption and non-performance of MDA regime.
“The Dome of the under-construction assembly building of Meghalaya had collapsed last year due to use of poor construction material and fault in its design. Despite the inciident CM Conrad Sangma did not take any substantive action against the contactor.This shows he has been hand in glove with the construction mafia and also patronizing them,” Pawan Khera said while addressing the media at Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee Headquarters here .
He insisted that the Chief Minister along with his brother James Sangma have been patting the back of Coal Mafia too that has created the problem of power shortage in the state. Khera asserted that Sangma family has been promoting nepotism and taking kickbacks while allotting tenders for various government contracts.
AICC Media coordinators Mathew Antony highlighted the 816 Crore Covid Scam and 50 lac KG Rice Scam. “The Assam Police had seized around 1 Lakh bags of rice from a private godown in Boko area of Kamrup district, Assam. Each bag contained 50 kg of rice. The action was taken on a complaint that Rice meant for free distribution to people under PDS scheme was kept with private vendor for sale in open market. This showed that NPP leaders were stocking the rice in Assam as to sell-off the food grain to other parts of the country,” Mathew said asserting both BJP and NPP colluded with each other to plunder the resources of the state.
“An 816 Crore rupee scam happened in the implementation of the Covid19 financial assistance, meant for the marginalized labourers. The government created and promoted fake account and beneficiaries to divert the central government’s grants to unaccounted and unverified identities,” said Mathew.
Bobeeta Sharma highlighted Rs 500 Crore MUDA Scam and Rs 650 crore Coal Scam.“The CAG in its audit report exposed financial bungling of over Rs 149 crore by Meghalaya government while implementing Centre’s flagship programme “Saubhagya”. The damning CAG report pronounced that the Power department has provided “undue favour” to a Delhi firm by awarding the turn-key Saubhagya Scheme causing a loss of Rs 149.12 crore to exchequer,” Sharma said asserting the CAG found that “improper” deletion of Bidding document clause which helped the firm to get work at abnormally higher rates which resulted in avoidable loss of 118.28 crore to the state.
AICC Media and Publicity Chairman Pawan Khera also highlighted the Excise Bond and Cartelisation Scam along with Casino Scam and Police Purchase Scam.
