Shillong ( Meghalaya) , May 3 : The highest single – day casualty of 6 Covid -19 patients was reported on Monday from East Khasi Hills District of the state taking the death toll to 185 .
The state also reported 246 new cases out which 148 were from East Khasi Hills . Ri Bhoi district reported 41 cases , East Khasi Hills 19, West Jaintia Hiils 13, West Khasi Hills 10, South West Garo Hills 10, West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills 2 each and North Garo Hills 1 .
According to a statement issued by the Health Department , a total of 177 patients also recovered today .
The state tally has gone upto 17,675 with 1, 884 active cases after a recovery of 15,606 patients . The death toll till now stands at 185 .
Meanwhile , a meeting to assess the Covid situation in state was held today and following were the decisions were made :
1. All shops will be closed at 7 PM from tomorrow the 4th of May, 2021 in the Shillong Agglomeration.
2. Curfew will be imposed from 8 PM to 5 AM in the Shillong Agglomeration from tomorrow.
3. Office Hours will be reduced from 5 pm to 4:30 pm in the Shillong Agglomeration.
The Government has also decided that the cremation/burial of the deceased will be allowed till 2pm everyday for both Covid and non-Covid cases. This will be applicable for the entire State.
In an order , the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has imposed night curfew from 8:00PM to 5:00AM daily in East Khasi Hills District. This order will come into force with effect from 4th May, 2021. Further, for effective Containment Measures to slow the spread of COVID – 19 Pandemic all shops and establishments in Shillong Urban Agglomeration shall remain closed by 7:00PM daily with effect from 4th May, 2021. This order exempts Pharmacies and Pharmaceutical stores which will open as per existing order, Petrol Pumps (permitted till 10:00PM) and Home delivery of food items (permitted till 10:00PM).
The Home (Political) Department in an order issued today has also declared all offices (Central, State, Private, Banks, Post Offices, etc. in Shillong Urban Agglomeration areas shall close by 4:30PM daily and shall also remain close on Saturdays with effect from 4th May, 2021 until further orders .
