Shillong (Meghalaya), April 16 : Finally, the mortal remains of Meghalaya’s first victim of COVID-19, Dr .John L Sailo Ryntathiang was buried at the cemetery of the Presbyterian Church at Raitsamthiah area here .
The funeral was held this morning after various churches expressed their willingness to provide space for the burial.
In a hurriedly organised burial the mortal remains was laid to rest immediately after digging the grave which was attended by few leaders of the church and government officials as per the laid down Covid -19 protocol.
The funeral was held after the family members accepted the offer of the Riathsamthiah Presbyterian Church.
On Wednesday the residents of Jhalupara area and Nongpoh refused to allow the government to take the body to the electric crematorium in Jhalupara and later bury the ashes in his farmhouse in Nongpoh in Ri- _Bhoi district of the state.
