Shillong(Meghalaya), Feb 27 : Health & Family Welfare Minister, Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh today laid a foundation stone for upgrading of Sawsymper Sub- Centre to the Sawsymper Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the presence of Mawsynram MLA, Ollan Singh Suin, DHS (MI) Dr R Lyngdoh, DMHO East Khasi hills District Dr S.A Lyngdoh and other officers of the Health & Family Welfare Department at a programme held at the premises of the Sawsymper Sub- Centre HWC, East Khasi Hills District.
Addressing at the occasion Mawsynram MLA, Ollan Singh Suin expressed his gratitude to Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh who without any hesitation willingly accepted to come for laying the foundation stone for upgrading of Sawsymper Sub- Centre to PHC.
He also said that from time to time he went to her office to discuss, and to remind her of the needs for the constituency. He also said that he is only the voice of the people and everything is up to the Minister to fulfil, and this day our long dream of having a PHC is fulfilled, and the peoples of this area will be benefited from this centre.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the government is committed to ensuring better health services to the people of the region and the PHC is a testimony to the efforts to make quality healthcare accessible to the people both in urban and rural areas as well.
Dr Lyngdoh thanked all the stakeholders involved in making the dream a reality for the people of Sawsymper and its adjoining areas, she urged them to keep on working diligently and to maintain teamwork in order to provide the best health services to the public.
She further urged the headmen of all the villages to work hand in hand with the department and also said that the department have some expectation that they should fulfil, like the signing and handing over of land with the village.
She also appreciated the Local MLA who often met her to remind about this program, which is important for the people of this area. She urged all the parents to come forward to this centre for the betterment of their child.
The minister assured the people that the government will provide all support relating to manpower, equipment and accommodation for doctors and staff.
