Guwahati (Assam) , Sep 22: The funeral procession of Assam’s beloved singer Zubeen Garg has been recognized by the Limca Book of Records as the fourth-largest funeral procession in the world, with over 10 lakh people attending. This massive turnout is a testament to Garg’s profound impact on the music industry and his devoted fan base.
The procession, which spanned 25 kilometers from the airport to his residence in Kahilipara, was marked by an outpouring of grief, with fans singing his songs, showering flowers, and holding banners with messages like “Zubeen Garg Forever”. The Assam government declared a three-day state mourning period, later extended until the day of his funeral, to honor the singer’s legacy.
Garg’s contributions to music will be remembered for generations to come, with over 38,000 songs in 40 languages to his credit. The singer’s funeral will be held with full state honors on September 23 at Hatimura, Kamarkuchi NC Village in Kamrup .
