Kokrajhar (Assam),Sep 22: 57 poachers on Wednesday surrendered before the BTR administration at a surrender programme held at Motambil inside the Raimona National Park in Kokrajhar district .
A total of 40 handmade arms, poached Deer horns, several weapons were also deposited before the BTR administration in the presence of senior officials of Forest department.
The surrendered poachers were given away Rs. 50,000 for starting new ventures to earn their livelihood .
Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR) chief executive member Pramod Boro welcomed the poachers who surrendered before the BTR administration.
During the ceremony ,CEM Pramod Boro said that the BTR administration and state government have decided to further develop the Raimona National Park in the days to come.
BTC executive members Ranjit Basumatary, Arup Kumar Dey, Wilson Hasda were also present during the surrender ceremony.
