New Delhi, March 23 : A recent attack by the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) on an Assam Police camp in Tinsukia has sparked concerns of escalating violence, with a security think tank warning of more deadly attacks ahead of the Assam Assembly elections.
The Centre for Northeast India Security Studies (CNEISS) has linked the attack to a nexus between ULFA, the Parbattya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS), and Rohingya terror groups, alleging that the groups have formed an alliance with support from Bangladesh’s DGFI and Pakistan’s ISI.
CNEISS has urged authorities to address the alliance, citing intelligence reports of PCJSS establishing camps in India and procuring arms from Myanmar-based groups. The Guwahati High Court has previously declared PCJSS a terrorist organisation.
The ULFA attack on March 22 injured four Assam Police commandos, and CNEISS warns that more attacks are likely if security measures are not tightened.
