Shilong(Meghalaya), April 27 : Meghalaya Government today paid tribute to the first Assam’s woman IAS officer and former Assam Additional Chief Secretary, Parul Devi Das, who died of Covid-19 on Monday .
She was under going treatment at Apollo Hospital in Guwahati.
Official sources said her mother, Urmila Devi Das is also undergoing treatment due Covid-19 infection .
An Assam-Meghalaya cadre officer, Das served as the Additional Chief Secretary of Assam.
Before she was transferred to Assam, Parul Devi Das served Meghalaya in various departments including Fisheries and Personnel Departments in the early eighties.
Daughter of former Minister Ramnath Das, Late Parul Devi Das officer was born in Shillong.
Her father late Ramnath Das was a cabinet minister in undivided Assam. Her brother Naba Kumar Das is the retired Chief Secretary of Assam.
She retired as Additional Chief Secretary in 2010.
Parul Devi Das was a spinster, who was dearly loved by the people of the state for her dedication, hard work, generosity and particularly her sensitivity towards the people’s need.
She was born and brought up in Shillong and had her school education in Loreto Convent ,here .
A condolence meeting chaired by Meghalaya Chief Secretary, M.S. Rao, which was attended by high officials, was held at Yojana Bhavan at the Main Secretariat here .
While paying tribute to the former IAS Officer, the meeting eulogized Parul Devi Das as an impeccable personality.
