Hyderabad/ Guwahati , April 9: Congress leader Pawan Khera’s anticipatory bail plea was adjourned in the Telangana High Court today, with the verdict expected tomorrow. Khera is facing allegations of suppressing information in his election nomination papers, related to claims about Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife holding multiple passports.
Khera’s lawyer argued that the allegations are yet to be proven and that the state acted in haste by sending a police team to Delhi within 24 hours. The respondent’s side questioned the jurisdiction of the Telangana court, arguing the petition should have been filed in Delhi or Assam.
The controversy has escalated with Assam CM Sarma labeling Khera an “absconder” and the Congress party sharing a video of Khera leveling corruption allegations against Sarma.
