Guwahati (Assam), April 3 : Four more new cases of Covid-19 were detected in Assam today and all the new cases were linked to religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi.
With these news cases the total number of positive cases stands at 20.
In a tweet Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote , “Four more patients have been found Covid-19 positive. Three of these are from Nalbari, and one is from South Salmara, taking total number in Assam to 20. All these four persons are also associated with Nizamuddin Markaz event.”
While three are from Nalbari district one is from South Salmara district.
As of now, eight cases have been reported from Golaghat district, four from Nalbari district, three from Morigaon and one each from South Salmara and Karimganj district and all are linked with Nizamuddin congregation.
Though the state was free for the past few days , all the positive cases were detected in last 72 hours.
Our Kokrajhar Bureau adds : In Bodoland Territorial Areas District(BTAD), no reports of positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported till Friday.
The health & family welfare department has been monitoring strictly the outbreak of Coronavirus and carrying screening test at various places across the region besides creating awareness on social distancing.
The Inter – state border with West Bengal in Kokrajhar district has been sealed and additional deployments have been made in all vulnerable areas.
“There are no reports of positive cases of COVID-19 till date in four districts of the Bodoland Territorial Areas District(BTAD) including Kokrajhar district”,said a senior medical official in BTAD.
The nationwide lockdown is evoking full response in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Areas District(BTAD) including Kokrajhar.
A 25 – bedded isolation ward and five ICU have been arranged at RNB civil hospital in Kokrajhar district besides setting up six quarantine centres as a preventive measure for those coming from neighbouring states to Assam.
Around 500 persons are already in shelter at the six quarantine centres in Kokrajhar district under strict medical observation . An awareness meet on the COVID-19 pandemic was held at the behest of the Peoples Aid in collaboration with district legal services authority at Saralpara along the Indo-Bhutan border area under Kokrajhar district.
UPPL president and former president of All Bodo Students Union Pramod Boro has appealed to all sections of communities in the state to stay at home and maintain social distancing to fight against the COVID-19 virus during the lockdown periods.
“We must follow directions and guidelines issued from the government as well health department while combating the Coronavirus outbreak in the country”, Boro added.
