Kokrajhar(Assam),Mar 23: Initiating strong preventive measures against Corona Virus Bhutan government have closed down all international borders with effect from 6 am today as a preventive measures to contain spread of Corona Virus.
In a statement,Ministry of Home & Cultural Affairs,Royal Government of Bhutan issued a public notification regarding the preventive measures initiated by the Bhutanese and first step of the government was to seal all international borders.
Four districts of Bodoland Territorial Aread District(BTAD) in Assam shares international borders at various places like Saralpara(Kokrajhar),Dadgiri(Chirang),Daranga(Baksa) and Bhairabkunda(Udalguri).
The notification has been issued in consultation with the Prime Minister’s Office for strict compliance, it stated .
“In view of the rapidly evolving situation in the region regarding COVID-19 and to mitigate the risks posed by this pandemic, all international borders shall be closed with effect from 6:00 am of 23 rd March 2020 until further notice with the following exceptions:
## Bhutanese arriving at border crossings shall be allowed to enter the country subject to medical screening and a mandatory two-week quarantine at a designated facility.
## Foreigners will be allowed to exit.
##No movement of vehicles across the borders except the authorized.
## No Bhutanese will be allowed to travel out of the country.
## All incoming Bhutanese citizens will be quarantined.
##. Exit will be allowed to non-Bhutanese residents
## Incoming non-Bhutanese will be scrutinized and quarantined where applicable.
## No movement of vehicles or people across the informal routes.
## The government will ensure continued supply of all commodities.
Meanwhile, Indian counterparts are also initiating strong measures on COVID-19 with screening tests being carried out at all international borders.
Necessary preventing measures have initiated to prevent the COVID-19 in the region from health and family welfare department, said a senior official.
