Kokrajhar ( Assam),April 11: Several houses were damaged and trees uprooted at various villages including Titaguri Haloadal due to heavy storm and rains in Kokrajhar district which led to loss of huge properties.
The storm occured in the villages around 7 pm late last evening under Kokrajhar district.
The house of Rakesh Brahma at Haloadal was totally damaged due to the heavy storm .
The storm affected in several villages including Magurmari,Sesapani, Shukanjhora, Titaguri,Duramari, Uttar Haltugaon,Tinali area,Aflagaon and Kokrajhar town in the district.
A big huge tree was uprooted at Kokrajhar town along the JD Road which led to traffic jam in the early morning on Sunday .
Later,the road communication was restored after the tree was cut and finally removed .
Storm affected villagers of Haloadal said that no officials from the district administration reached till morning to take stock of the damages in the affected areas.
They have urged the district administration to provide relief materials to the affected people in the district.
Former ABSU general secretary and UPPL candidate for Kokrajhar East constituency Lawrence Islary visited the storm affected areas in greater Tiniali and took stock of the situation .
He said that he visited the storm hit areas as common people were facing severe hardship due to the impact of the heavy storm last evening.
He said that he brought to the notice of BTC administration authorities to provide necessary relief to the villagers .
Meanwhile, the district administration has started it’s assessment of the villages in the storm hit areas in the district.
” All affected people are getting relief materials from district administration”, said a senior official here .
