Guwahati ( Assam) , May 17 : The state registered the highest single -day surge of 92 deaths in the last 24 hours .
According to the Chief Minister , Dr . Himata Biswa Sarma, 6394 new Covid -19 cases were detected in the state in the last 24 hours out of which 1100 cases were from Kamrup ( Metro) .
These cases were detected after conducting 91,841 tests in the last 24 hours .

The overall positivity percentage is 6.99% and the recovery rate stands at 85.73%
