Kokrajhar (Assam),Nov 25: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today handed over cheque of Rs.20 lakh to family members of martyr Hardhan Roy on the occasion of his adhyasradhya at Medhipara near Futkibari in Dhubri district .
The adhyasradhya of martyr Hardhan Roy was held at his native village Medhipara near Futkibari in Dhubri district today .
Havildar Roy lost his life in the bullet firing by Pakistani Army on November 13 last in Oori in Jammu and Kashmir.
He is survived by his wife, a two – year old son and his aged parents .
Roy joined the Indian army in 2001 and was a jawan in the 59th battalion of Indian army .
Sonowal was accompanied by Bilashipara East MLA Ashok Singhi.
CM Sonowal said that the state is proud of martyr Hardhan Roy who sacrificed his life for the country.
He assured that the state government will look after the welfare of the family members of martyr Hardhan Roy and promised medical treatment for his ailing father who is suffering from age related ailments.
He has also assured of giving a government job to the kin of martyr Hardhan Roy in days to come.
Bakulata Roy,widow of martyr Hardhan Roy said that she had approached the chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal for a government job as well welfare aid from state government for maintaining her family.
