Kokrajhar(Assam) ,Mar 16 : Ruling Bodoland People’s Front(BPF) party on Sunday declared the names of six more candidate’s names. With this announcement of the candidates ,BPF is going to contest in 37 out of 40 constituencies for the Bodoland Territorial Council.
BPF Supremo Hagrama Mohilary on Sunday announced more six candidates to contest the upcoming council elections.
Mohilary,who is also the BTC chief while addressing a press Conference here said that BPF would directly be contesting in 37 seats.He informed that as per the spirit of the BJP- BPF- AGP alliance,two seats have been left for BJP and one seat for AGP in the council elections.
The names of the candidates which were announced include Fwilao Basumatary(Dhanshri), Suresh Tanti(Nonoi Serfang), Dhiren Boro(Koklabari),Jeorge Basumatary(Kachugaon), Dhananjay Basumatary(Manas Serfang) and Rahindra Brahma(Guma).
He informed that two seats in Fskiragram and Nagrijuli constituencies have been left for the BJP while Thuribari has been left for AGP as per the spirit of alliance of BJP -AGP- BPF.
He also said that BPF and BJP will have friendly contests in several seats across the council region.
The BPF has given tickets to two female candidates in Parbatjhora(Moonmoon Brahma) and Mathanguri(Aktara Ahmed).
Mohilary said that there will be no impact of Congress and AIUDF who are jointly contesting in 30 seats in the council elections.
He expressed confidence that BPF is forming next council by winning 25 sets along with BJP with two seats.
He said that United People’s Party Liberal( UPPL) and Gana Suraksha Party(GSP) will score zero in the council elections.
He said that the council election will be held as per schedule in BTC despite the outbreak of Corona virus in some parts of the country .
Assam Social Welfare minister and senior BPF leader Pramila Rani Brahma said there would be friendly contests in the BTC council elections between BPF and BJP .She added that the alliance is intact with BJP- BPF -AGP in the state and the centre.
She said that there would be no impact on BPF in the council elections even though BJP is putting candidates in the council elections.
She said that BPF was confident of winning majority seats to form next council .
She claimed that BPF is getting mass support from all sections of the communities in the region.
Meanwhile , Assam health minister Pijush Hazarika said the BPF is not the prime enemy of the BJP in the forthcoming BTC election. “The BPF is our ally in the government and they are not our enemies . There would be friendly contest in the election ”, said Hazarika
