Kokrajhar (Assam), Dec 2: In a special operation against the illegal arms in the region in run up to of the 4th general elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council( BTC) elections, police here have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition late last night.
Based on a specific input that illegal arms/ammunition were hidden at Bathouguri village under Kokrajhar police station a search operation was launched under the leadership of Mukut Rabha, additional superintendent of police(SP) headquarters late last night.
The recovered arms and ammunition included an AK 47, 7.62 ammunitions (290 nos) and .303 ammn (19 nos) , The consignment were kept hidden near a fish pond in the village.
Police in the past few months have initiated stern steps against the illegal arms in the district and accordingly recovered huge nos of arms and ammunition.
However,no one has been arrested in this regard .
