Guwahati (Assam), Aug 16 : A total of 1317 new Covid cases were detected in the state on Sunday taking the total number of Covid cases in the state to 78,875 .
Among the new cases , Kamrup Metro reported 233 cases , Cachar 161 cases and Dibrugarh 133 .
7 more Covid patients succumbed to their infections in the state today taking the death toll due to Covid -19 in the state to 189 .
The 7 Covid patients have been identified as Muhibuddin Ahmed (63) of Sivasagar; Ashutosh Dey (72) of Cachar; Hala Ramchiary (49) of Baksa; Dilip Bhagawati (53) of Darrang; Pradip Ram Singh Rajuwar (53) Bhupendra Gupta (32) of Dibrugarh; Tarun Brahma (55) of Kokrajhar .
Meanwhile , a total of 1928 patients were discharged today after recovery .
