Guwahati( Assam) , Aug 21 : A total of 1856 new Covid cases were detected in the state today taking the total number of cases in the state to 87,908 .
Among the new cases , 433 were reported from Kamrup Metro, 150 from Dibrugarh , 121 from Kamrup Rural and 143 from Cachar .
A total of 2772 patients were discharged today after full recovery .
6 more serious Covid patients succumbed to their infections on Friday at various hospitals across the state taking the death toll 226 .
The patients have been identified as Madhai Saha aged 53 of Dhubri; Kameswar Lahkar aged 55 years of Barpeta; Kamal Krishan Mahanta aged 47 years of Kamrup R; Haripad Deb Nath aged 55 years of Hailakandi; Bidhu Bhushan Das aged 57 years of Cachar & Late Sahida Khatun aged 43 of Dibrugarh.
