New Delhi, March 2: The Centre has put states on alert amid escalating West Asian tensions, asking them to monitor protests and prevent law and order issues. The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed states and UTs to keep police and paramilitary forces on alert.
Protests erupted in Kashmir Valley and other places following the killing of Iran Supremo Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with Shias protesting against the US-Israel strike on Iran.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian counterpart Mark Carney discussed strengthening bilateral relations, reviewing progress in key sectors like trade, agriculture, education, and energy.
