Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 11: The 6th edition of Winter Tales, a flagship event of the Department of Tourism, Meghalaya, commenced on Thursday. December 11, 2025, at the iconic Ward’s Lake here . Organized by The Meghalayan Age Limited and curated by Dak-ti, the three-day festival aims to promote the state’s rich cultural heritage and indigenous crafts.
The festival’s theme, “Nurture,” highlights the interconnected nature of culture, craft, community, and land, showcasing the state’s commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. The event features a diverse range of activities, including live demonstrations by artisans, musical performances, workshops, and interactive sessions.
Timothy D. Shira, Tourism Minister, emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting the state’s cultural heritage during the inauguration. He commended the festival’s commitment to sustainability and its efforts to minimize waste and promote eco-friendly practices.
The festival also witnessed the handing out of the Go Green Awards, recognizing and honoring best practices in sustainability and environmental conservation. The awards were presented to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to promoting eco-friendly practices and reducing waste.
Over the next two days, Winter Tales 2025 will continue to host a range of activities, including music performances, workshops, and interactive sessions. The festival will also feature an expansive Artisanal Market showcasing local products, a variety of indigenous cuisine, and locally produced brews and beverages.
