Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 27: – The Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan today inaugurated the 21 st Annual Conference of the Cardiological Society of India (Northeast Chapter) (CSINE) at Marriot Hotel, here in the presence of the Director of Northeastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Prof. (Dr) Nalin Mehta who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
The Conference organized by the Cardiological Society of India (Northeast Chapter) in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS will be held from the 27 th – 29 th of October 2023 with the aim of providing a platform for cardiologists from different parts of the country to enhance knowledge, review innovative techniques, learn the best guidelines from stalwarts in the field, and communicate, collaborate and form associations.
Addressing the Conference, the Governor citing changing lifestyle as the main cause of diseases from children to the elderly, he expressed concern about the rising number of sudden cardiac deaths in India, especially in the Northeast region.
He lauded the Conference and stated that it was a significant step towards raising awareness about heart disease and encouraging collaboration among experts in the field.
The Governor also commended the state of Meghalaya for its significant progress in improving healthcare infrastructure. He said that the state was committed to supporting the medical community’s efforts in the field of cardiology and was making necessary investments in cutting-edge treatment facilities.
The Governor urged the experts present at the conference to have productive discussions, foster new partnerships, and look into innovative ways to prevent and treat cardiovascular diseases.
He said that the ideas, solutions, and knowledge shared at the conference would benefit not only the state of Meghalaya but also all of humanity.
To mark the occasion, the Governor also released a Souvenir on the day.
CARDIOCON 2023 is being participated by eminent national and regional faculties and is expected to be attended by large number of delegates from the Northeast.
As part of the Conference there will be Workshops, Panel Discussions, Debates and guest lectures on important topics.
