Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 26 : Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today informed that nothing adverse has happened to the Indian students studying in the war-torn Ukraine in Europe.
Speaking to the media, Tynsong said the parents of the students from Meghalaya studying in Ukraine should not unnecessarily worry about their children, as they have been provided with proper shelter in a safe place.
“All these students will be back home in the next few days”, Tynsong added.
On Friday ,Chief Secretary, Rebecca V Suchiang said state government are in touch with the MEA and the Indian Ambassador to Ukraine to ensure safety of students from Meghalaya.
The government has set up two helpline number – 9366066565 and 9863257261 – for students and citizens from Meghalaya stranded in Ukraine.
The state government also released a list of 17 students who are presently undergoing education in Ukraine .
They are Richie Kalra , Ishika Debnath, Deepak Kumar, Ibapynbianghunlang Nongkynrih , Shreejana Pradhan , Medarisha Kurbah , Vicky Nongsiej, Synshar Tariang, Balapynsuk Synrem, Balarikordor Kharsati, Eunica Lawai Lyngdoh, Iwadamon Suchiang, Lashantihun Syiem, Dajiedkyrpang Rymbai, Mebaaishisha Paliar, Phiba Marbaniang and Decyful Nongrum.
According to reports, most of the students are persuing undergraduate studies at the Zaporozhye State Medical University.
