Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 10: The Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Thomas A. Sangma, and Deputy Speaker Limison D. Sangma, are attending the 22nd Annual Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-III in Kohima, Nagaland. The conference, being held from Nov 9 to 13, brings together legislative leaders from Northeastern states to discuss strengthening democratic institutions and promoting regional cooperation.
During the conference, Thomas A. Sangma highlighted the crucial role of legislatures in shaping national policy and ensuring accountable governance. He emphasized that through sound laws, legislatures can transform aspirations into action and vision into reality. The conference provides a platform for legislative leaders to exchange best practices, foster collaboration, and strengthen parliamentary democracy in the region.
The event is being hosted by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and features notable speakers, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
