Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 10: Justice Revati Mohite Dere was formally sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court on Saturday, January 10, 2026. The oath of office was administered by Meghalaya Governor C.H. Vijayashankar at a ceremony held at the Durbar Hall of Lok Bhavan, here.
Justice Dere succeeds Justice Soumen Sen, who has been transferred to the Kerala High Court. Prior to her appointment, Justice Dere served as a judge at the Bombay High Court, where she was known for her notable rulings in PILs and public law cases.
Born in Pune, Justice Dere obtained her law degree from Symbiosis Law College, Pune, and practised extensively before the Bombay High Court. She was elevated as an additional judge of the Bombay High Court in 2013 and confirmed as a permanent judge in 2016.
