
Sohra (Meghalaya), Sep 27: The 4th Sohra International Half Marathon 2025 was a resounding success, with a staggering 10,576 runners from across India and the globe converging on the picturesque town of Sohra. The marathon, organized by the Meghalaya State Olympics Association in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, showcased the region’s potential as a sports hub.
Olympic medalist and six-time world champion MC Mary Kom flagged off the event, praising the organization and scenic beauty of Sohra. The runners participated in various categories, including the 21K Elite, 21K Open, 10K Open, and 5K Run for Fun. The winners were awarded a total prize money of ₹15.50 lakh.
Dinesh Kumar and Tamsi Singh emerged as the top performers in the 21K Elite Men and Women categories, respectively. The event saw a significant increase in participation, with 13 international athletes and 337 runners from other states joining in. The marathon was recognized by the Athletics Federation of India, adding to its credibility and prestige. With its breathtaking scenery and record-breaking participation, the Sohra International Half Marathon has cemented its place as one of India’s premier running events.
