Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 6: The Wildlife Wing of the Forest and Environment Department organized the third edition of the “Run for Wildlife” here in Shillong, as part of the Wildlife Week 2025 celebrations. Over 600 participants from various age groups gathered to run for a cause, promoting community support for wildlife conservation and protection of their habitats.
The event, flagged off by Harish Chandra Chaudhary, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Chief Wildlife Warden, saw enthusiastic participation from school children, forest officials, and amateur runners. A notable presence of female participants added to the event’s success. Runners covered distances of 5 km, 7 km, and 10 km, designated for different age groups, showcasing their endurance and commitment to the cause.
By combining physical fitness with environmental consciousness, the “Run for Wildlife” encouraged participants to support a cause they care about. The event served as a platform for people to come together and promote awareness about the importance of conservation, highlighting the need for collective efforts to protect Meghalaya’s rich biodiversity.
