Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 29: On Sunday (29-10-2023) morning, based on credible information that one drug peddler by the name of Rofique Uddin Ahmed is traveling in a night super bus bearing Registration No. AS-01-FC-7788 and carrying illegal contrabands.
Accordingly, Naka was set up on the NH-06 near Khliehriat PS. Subsequently, the said night super was detained along with the said drug peddler.
During the search of the vehicle and in the presence of independent witnesses, 20 boxes of yellowish powder was recovered from his bag.
Preliminary test of the powder was conducted and gave a positive result for Heroin. The total gross weight was found to be 274.23 gms.
A case has been registered at Khliehriat PS under appropriate sections of NDPS Act and investigation is on to trace the forward and backward linkages.
