Shillong ( Meghalaya), Oct 16 : A tense situation was defused in Lawmei, Diengiei area, on Thursday, October 16,, when a person was suspected to be a “Menshohnoh” and detained by villagers. The police, led by officers from Lumdiengjri PS and SOT, swiftly intervened and rescued the individual, Nicolas Lyngkhoi (39), a resident of Ktiehthawiar, Mawshynrut.
According to reports, Lyngkhoi, a tree feller, had spent the night in a shed at Lawmei after abandoning his plans to visit his relative’s house. The shed’s owner spotted him and alerted the neighbors, leading to his detention by the villagers.
The police took Lyngkhoi into custody and later sent him for medical examination at Civil Hospital Shillong, where he was found to have sustained minor injuries. The authorities are currently investigating the matter.
The prompt action by the police prevented a potentially disastrous situation from escalating further.
