Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 13 : One more Covid patient succumbed to his infections in the state taking the death toll to 144.
According to official sources ,Abdul Gaffar Laskar aged 65 years hailing from Silchar, Assam, was admitted to NEIGRIHMS as an emergency case on Jan 11. He was complaining from abdominal pain for almost a month and was unconscious for around three hours before being admitted to the hospital. On medical examination he was to implant a pacemaker but the family decided otherwise .
A Covid test was done and the patient tested positive . The patient suffered a heart attack and could not be revived despite all measures. He was declared dead yesterday past midnight .
Meanwhile , 18 new cases were detected in the state today taking the state tally 13,670 .
13 cases were reported from East Khasi Hills while 5 cases were reported from West Jaintia Hills .
9 patients were declared recovered today .
The active cases stand at 160 after a total of 13,366 patients recovered . The death toll so far is 144 .
