Shillong (Meghalaya), May 28: One person was killed, and four others injured due to heavy rainfall accompanied by strong wind due to the impact of cyclone Remal across the state.
According to Executive Director, State Disaster Management Authority. M. War a wall collapsed at Sutnga Weilong under Wapung C&RD Block in East Jaintia Hills District resulting in the death of one person.
Four persons were injured in a landslide at Mawlai Bypass under Mawlai Block today. The Injured persons have been admitted to NEIGHRIMS Hospital., here.
Meanwhile strong winds led to uprooting of trees and electric wires were snapped off and many houses were damaged.
Cyclonic storm & heavy Rainfall under Mairang Block led to the damages of electric poles due to uprooting of trees.
Cyclone Remal also left a trail of destruction across the South West Garo Hills district. The cyclone affected a total of 21 villages, causing extensive damage to homes, infrastructure, and public property.
