Shillong(Meghalaya) , April 10: The Tourism Department has clarified that no permanent construction will be undertaken on Lumpondeng Island as part of the proposed Taj Umiam Resort & Spa development. The resort will be constructed on the existing Orchid Lake Resort land.
The department also clarified that Consent to Establish (CTE) from the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board is provisional. Construction will start only after the final DPR is approved, strictly following the concession agreement terms prohibiting permanent island construction.
Existing rules permit construction outside a 50-meter buffer zone, and the project will use zero liquid discharge technology.
