Jengjal (Meghalaya), Nov 17: CM Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the newly constructed Jengjal Police Station building at Jengjal, West Garo Hills. The event was attended by Director General of Police Idashisha Nongrang, Superintendent of Police Abraham T Sangma, and other senior government officials and police personnel.
The Chief Minister highlighted the strategic location of the police station, which will enhance accessibility and convenience for both the public and police personnel. He expressed gratitude to the Nokma and the local community for donating land for the construction of the police station.
The new police station has been built according to the norms laid down by the Government of India. The Chief Minister assured that all police stations across the state will be upgraded, renovated, or constructed accordingly. He also informed that the Police Infrastructure Renovation Fund will enable the SPs to undertake renovation and repairing of police stations without waiting for state government sanction.
The Chief Minister announced that the government will sanction Rs 50 crore to the Airport Authority of India to start work on the Jengjal Airport. He also stated that 19-seater planes will operate from Jengjal Airport, prioritizing Shillong-Tura flights.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Superintendent of the Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, Abraham T Sangma.
