Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 29: Langsning FC continued their impressive run in the second leg of the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024, defeating Nongthymmai SC 2-0 at the SSA Stadium in Polo today.
Rhitso Mero was the star of the show, scoring a brace in the 25th and 71st minutes to propel Langsning to sixth place with 14 points.
Langsning’s resurgence in the second leg has been remarkable, with 7 points from three games. In contrast, Nongthymmai’s woes continued, as they succumbed to their sixth consecutive defeat, remaining stuck on 7 points in the relegation zone.
The match was a repeat of the first leg, where Langsning edged Nongthymmai 3-2 on October 23. This time, however, Langsning dominated from the outset, with Dauruhipaia Pale smashing the crossbar in the 15th minute.
The breakthrough came 10 minutes later, courtesy of Rhitso’s header from Chusrang Sangma’s long throw-in. Rhitso sealed the win with his second goal in the 71st minute, ensuring Langsning’s upward trajectory continues.
