Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 10: Meghalaya has recorded its biggest-ever victory in the Ranji Trophy, crushing Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 446 runs in a plate group match in Surat. The team declared at 628/6, with Arpit Bhatewara scoring a double century (207), Kishan Lyngdoh hitting 119, and guest professional Rahul Dalal scoring 144. Akash Chaudhary also made history by hitting eight consecutive sixes and scoring the fastest 50 in first-class cricket.
Arunachal Pradesh was bowled out for 73 and 109 in the two innings, with Aryan Borah taking 3/45, Ajay Duhan 2/0, Aaron Nongrum 2/8, and Akash Chaudhary 2/29. This win surpasses Meghalaya’s previous record victory by an innings and 425 runs against Mizoram in the 2019-20 season. Meghalaya will now face Manipur in their next match, starting November 16.
The victory marks Meghalaya’s first win of the 2025-26 season, following two draws and one abandoned match. The team’s performance was marked by standout batting and bowling displays, making it a comprehensive win. With this victory, Meghalaya is looking to build momentum in the tournament.
