Shillong (Meghalaya), Aug 19 : Satya Pal Malik was sworn in as the new Governor of Meghalaya, at the Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday evening.
Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya, Justice Biswanath Somadder administered the oath of office and secrecy .

Malik who was recently transferred from Goa replaced Tathagata Roy .
Born on 24 July 1946, Satya Pal Malik was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir from Aug 2018 to October 2019. During his tenure that the constitutional decision to abrogate Article 370, which gave special status to J&K, was taken in Aug 2019.
The swearing -in ceremony was attended by the state Chief Minister , Conrad Sangma, his cabinet colleagues and a select audience due to the prevailing Covid 19 protocols .
